We have heard a lot of negative things about the millennial generation, allegedly concocted by the gen X and Y camps. While some might be true for others, for Faith Deborrah Pagulayan, she’s not all that millennial archetypes that we know today.
Right after graduating cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a BS Business Administration degree in 2009, Faith was admitted to Globe Telecom’s management program. She was assigned after as Assistant Brand Manager for Tattoo and eventually moved to Globe Business as Group Product Marketing Manager for wireless products under the Small and Medium business segment.
During her stay in Globe, Faith has led projects that protected the revenue of her business group through brand & product lifecycle management. She streamlined offers and customized industry-specific packages for their target customers.
“Globe gave me a holistic training in marketing management and customer insighting”, Faith says. “I am blessed to have been mentored by great leaders and have worked with the coolest and hardworking marketing teams in the organization”, she adds.
In 2013, Faith moved to OMF Literature as concurrent head for their digital channel and marketing teams. “I guess just like any bibliophile out there, I always had that dream of working for an organization involved in books. I got the best of both worlds- using my experience in the technology industry to infuse innovation in a rather traditional but beloved world of books. ”, Faith shares.
At 28, Faith is the youngest incorporator of Muovere Veloce Consultancy Inc, a firm that offers consultancy on business management & development, branding, digital & product marketing, sales & distribution strategy and training . She is currently the Accounts Director and responsible for the day-to-day relationship management of their key accounts. Faith was once touted by her peers as the “Magician” for her ability to create winning customer pitches at a very short notice. “Our type of business is highly competitive; contracts are sealed in the boardroom by the quality of pitches we make”, Faith explains. “I’m grateful to be part of a team who are experts in different fields which makes collaboration fast and always spot-on to our customer requirements”, Faith adds.
Faith is currently pursuing her MA degree in Development Studies at the University of Santo Tomas. “While I am happy how my career is going, I’m also preparing myself to push forward my advocacies on environment protection and community development. I know it’s not much, but in my own little way, I want to be part of the solution”, Faith says. This explains why Faith is also involved in a lot of pro-bono works; when she is not throwing pitches in the boardroom or attending classes, Faith is out helping marginalized communities creating sustainable projects.
Faith juggles work, school and community work quite well, we’ve asked her to describe her me-time and she said if her schedule would permit, she would be out surfing, her newly discovered passion. “Growing up, I’ve always had this fascination with the sea.”, according to Faith.
“This might sound poetic, but I see my career journey similar to the waves I ride when I surf; big, unsuspecting and unchartered. You need to train hard so you can go further and catch the bigger waves.”, Faith says in closing.
This extraordinary millennial dispels all the negative attributes we heard about their generation. She’s a young executive, who believes in the value of hard work and sees no shortcut to success.
